Utusan Sarawak 4 months ago

KUCHING: A pedestrian in his 60s suffered a severely crushed left foot and head injuries in an accident involving three vehicles around 8.00 pm in the parking area in front of Maybank, off Laksamana Cheng Ho Road, last night.

According to Kuching District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, preliminary investigations revealed that a four-wheel-drive vehicle, driven by a local man in his 60s, lost control and struck the pedestrian in front of the Maybank premises.

The impact caused the bank’s glass panel to shatter completely. The vehicle then reversed into two parked vehicles before colliding with the wall of a nearby house.

The injured pedestrian is currently receiving treatment at the Emergency Unit of Sarawak General Hospital.

ACP Mohd Farhan stated that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a penalty of a fine between RM4,000 and RM10,000 or imprisonment of up to 12 months upon conviction.

He urged members of the public who witnessed the incident or have relevant information to come forward. They can contact the investigating officer, Traffic Inspector Saundri a/p Govinda Rajoo, at 011-27549620 or 082-259900, or visit the nearest police station.
