KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Chairman Tan Kai has expressed his appreciation to members of the public for their alertness in reporting illegal banners and to MPP enforcement officers for taking swift action to remove them over the weekend.
He said a total of 37 illegal banners were taken down around Jalan Stapok Selatan 11 and RPR Batu Kawa. These banners were put up without permits and were found to be obstructing public view and affecting the cleanliness of the area.
Tan reminded individuals and businesses that all banners, buntings, and advertisements displayed in public spaces must first obtain approval from MPP.
These banners were also advertisement for illegal money lending which Tan Kai said is a criminal act.
He warned that action would be taken against those who continue to display unlicensed banners, as it not only breaches council regulations but also creates visual pollution.
He also called on the public to continue cooperating with the council by reporting similar cases, saying their support is vital in helping MPP maintain the city’s cleanliness, orderliness, and image.
