Overwhelming success for SUPP Kuching Branch counter service

KUCHING: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching Branch received an overwhelming response from the public during the launch of its first night service counter, which began operating at 5.30 pm on Thursday at Life Cafe restaurant.

Residents, both young and old, had begun lining up in front of the premises as early as 5.30 pm to seek assistance related to the Special Financial Assistance programme for Sarawak students pursuing higher education in institutions across Malaysia. Each eligible student stands to receive RM1,200 under the scheme.

SUPP Youth Chief for the Kuching Branch, Nicholas Wung, said the initiative received a very encouraging response, particularly from students who came with their parents to submit applications and gather information about the financial aid.

He noted that the presence and cooperation of community leaders, including penghulu and kapitan, helped facilitate the document submission process.

Applicants are required to bring their parents’ identification cards, salary slips, and a confirmation letter from their university.

Wung expressed surprise at the strong turnout and said that based on the feedback, similar services may be held again in the future. He also encouraged those who were unable to attend the counter session to contact the party directly, adding that assistance can be extended through outreach efforts in the community.

The Kuching branch was mobilised to assist the public.
