
KUCHING: A successful operation under Op Taring Bravo 1 led to the seizure of RM1.1 million worth of subsidized diesel in Sibu in a raid carried out by the 10th Battalion PGA, today at 9.30 am.
Sarawak PGA Brigade Commanding Officer, SAC AB Ghazali Che Ahmad, stated that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat smuggling activities in the region.
“The raid resulted in the arrest of two local men, aged between 44 and 48, and the discovery of 9,000 liters of subsidized diesel stored at the premises,” he said.
Authorities also seized two lorry-type vehicles suspected of being used in the illegal operation.
“The estimated total value of the seizure, based on market prices, is RM1,148,400.
“The arrested individuals and confiscated items have been handed over to the KPDN Sibu Branch for further action and investigation,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 20(1) of the Supply Control Act.
Throughout the operation of the Sarawak PGA Brigade’s Op Taring which was carried out from 1 January to 12 February 2025, the Sarawak PGA Brigade has recorded successes worth RM71.9 million by recording 44 cases involving a total of 87 arrests (73 locals and 14 foreigners) as well as the seizure of 37 vehicles of various types.
