KUCHING: The Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD Bau), through its Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) issued various summonses for traffic offences and detained six motorcycles under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Bau police Chief, DSP Dr Daram Ruer said police carried out a motorcycle operation around Bau town from about 6.00 pm until midnight on Sunday.

He said in total, 38 summonses were issued for various offences. The highest number was for modifying vehicle structures (14 summonses), followed by non-compliant registration numbers (8), no side mirrors (7), driving without a licence (7), failure to display the ‘P’ licence plate (1), and failure to display the ‘L’ licence plate (1).

The operation involved two officers and six personnel, also included enforcement and patrols along the Bau–Batu Kawa Road.

Dr Daram said a total of 56 motorcycles and 64 individuals were inspected during the operation.

He advised all road users, especially motorcyclists, to always comply with traffic laws and prioritise personal safety. He also urged parents to play an active role in monitoring their children to ensure they are not involved in illegal motorcycling activities.

The Bau Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division welcomes any information from the public on illegal street racing activities, which can be channelled via the IPD Bau hotline at 082-763311.
