KUCHING: In a continued effort to promote positive lifestyle choices and skill-building among women, SKUAD Antidadah Kuching today conducted its final session of a three-part workshop series, culminating in an Upcycling Denim Beaded Bracelet Workshop.
Led by volunteer educator Singaporean Mdm Nah Wai Murn, the hour-long session taught participants how to creatively repurpose old denim into handmade beaded bracelets.
“The aim is to motivate the women to pick up new skills and engage in meaningful activities that contribute to their personal growth,” she said when interviewed by Utusan Sarawak.
“Instead of turning to drugs, they can be encouraged to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives through joyful experiences and opportunities for upskilling.”

Nah said the participants have shown strong interest and genuine curiosity throughout the programme.
“From my observation, the clients are very willing to learn. Some familiar faces have returned since my first session in April, which shows their openness and commitment to personal development,” she shared.
“Although many even expressed excitement about the next session, and were disappointed when I told them today was the final one before I return to Singapore.”

Nah married to a local has decided to return to Singapore seeking greener pastures.
Reflecting on the programme, she said the workshops began with a pineapple tart baking session, followed by an upcycling denim charms activity, and concluded today with beaded bracelet-making.
“I truly hope these women continue to grow, make positive choices, and build better lives for themselves,” she added. “Each day brings a new opportunity, and with the right mindset, we can all focus on creating a brighter, more meaningful future.”
The initiative is part of SKUAD Antidadah Kuching’s ongoing outreach to promote drug-free living through creativity, skill-building, and empowerment.
