MP Kuching Kelvin Yii handed over a total of RM196,964 allocation for SJK(C) Chung Hua No.1 Kuching for the implementation of several upgrade projects of the school.

KUCHING: SJK(C) Chung Hua No.1 Kuching will soon undergo a series of key infrastructure upgrades following an allocation of RM196,964 from Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii’s office.

Dr Yii said the funding aims to support the improvement of school facilities and provide a safer, more comfortable, and inspiring learning environment for both students and teachers.

“Education is the most worthwhile investment for the future. We have a responsibility to create better learning spaces for the next generation, whether in terms of teaching equipment, school safety, or student well-being,” he said.

According to the school, the allocation will go toward four major projects. These include installing stage lighting and a sound system in the school hall to enhance assemblies and extracurricular activities, as well as replacing old furniture to improve the classroom environment.

To combat heat and sun exposure, the school will also install sun louvres to help regulate indoor temperatures. In addition, repairs will be carried out on the roof and ceiling to address leakage issues and ensure structural safety.

Dr Yii thanked the school for its consistent cooperation with his office and expressed hope that all works could be completed promptly for the benefit of students and teachers.

“As an MP, I am committed to supporting educational institutions throughout my constituency. Through the parliamentary allocation mechanism, we not only aim to enhance urban schools but also focus on gradually improving facilities in rural and underserved areas,” he added.

“Every child, regardless of their background, deserves access to quality education.”
