Sentosa State Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap blasts DAP for lack of direction

Utusan Sarawak 16 hours ago
WILFRED Yap say DAP is good at making excuses.

KUCHING: DAP’s repeated excuses show a troubling lack of direction and credibility of which their handling of the recent matriculation entry issue for SPM students with A– grades is an example of reactive governance, despite the party’s significant presence in the Federal Government.

Yap pointed out that with five Cabinet Ministers, six Deputy Ministers including the Deputy Minister of Education and more than forty Members of Parliament, DAP had every opportunity to ensure clarity and fairness from the beginning.

Instead, he said it took widespread public backlash and Cabinet intervention to address what should have been a straightforward matter. If DAP cannot even manage basic student admissions without confusion, one must question what they are actually accomplishing in Putrajaya.

“This government was elected to provide solutions and not to issue statements while problems grow worse. The public deserves more than deflections and last-minute policy reversals. DAP must stop portraying themselves as victims when they are part of the administration and have the authority to lead decisively. Continuing to rely on excuses and delayed responses only confirms that they are out of ideas and losing the public’s trust. Leadership is not about fixing mistakes after they’ve been made as it is about preventing them in the first place. If DAP cannot offer consistent, competent governance, then it’s time for Malaysians to consider other options, ” he stated.

For himself he assured that he will always speak up for what is fair and just for every community. I will not hesitate to call out those in power when they fall short.

For the good of our students and the integrity of government, Yap suggested that DAP to move beyond reactive damage control and begin delivering on the competence they once promised. If they continue to fall short, Malaysians deserve the chance to choose leaders who will act with clarity, consistency, and integrity, he added.
