Woman found dead in motel room, police confirm as murder

KUCHING: Padawan Police Chief, Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi confirmed that a 36-year-old woman found dead in a motel is murdered under Section 302 of the Penal Code. 

Irwan said the woman was found dead in a motel on the first floor of a shophouse along Jalan Batu Kawa, Kuching, yesterday.

He said Batu Kawa Police Station received a report at approximately 2.16 pm about an unconscious woman in a rented room.

“The Criminal Investigation Division of the Padawan District Police Headquarters was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the victim lying face down on a mattress with lacerations on her neck.” 

Medical staff called to the scene pronounced the woman dead and the remains were sent to Sarawak General Hospital. 

A post mortem was conducted this morning. 

Irwan said so far police have yet to identify the suspect and is combing through the Cctv. 

He urged anyone with information about the incident to contact investigating officer ASP Sylvarius at 013-863 7241 or the Padawan IPD Operation Room at 082-862 233.
