SPAOH: Calon Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) bagi Parlimen Betong Dr Richard Rapu mempunyai pengalaman baik dalam pentadbiran Persekutuan, tetapi ada kelebihan tertentu berbanding calon Bebas, Hasbie Satar.
Pengarah Pilihan Raya GPS, Datuk Amar Douglas Embas berkata calon Bebas itu bergantung kepada pengalamannya di peringkat persekutuan pada 2008 hingga 2010 tetapi ‘menjaja’ itu di sini semata-mata untuk memikat pengundi.
“Dr Richard juga pernah berkhidmat sebagai Setiausaha Politik saya sejak 2008 ketika (saya) menjadi Timbalan Menteri persekutuan dan kemudiannya menteri penuh.
“Pada 2016, dia mengikut saya apabila saya kembali berkhidmat di negeri ini dan terus menjadi Setiausaha Politik juga. Dari segi kelayakan, calon kami juga layak iaitu doktor veterinar terlatih dari universiti tempatan.
“Tetapi perkara yang menjadikan Dr Richard sebagai pilihan terbaik ialah beliau mewakili kerajaan GPS, negeri yang paling stabil dan kuat. Jadi dia mempunyai platformnya yang sesuai dan harmoni dengan majoriti rakyat Sarawak. GPS lah yang menjaga Sarawak,” katanya.
Uggah yang juga Timbalan Premier Sarawajk berkata demikian pada majlis pertemuan dengan Ketua-ketua cabang kecil dan ahli dari sembilan cawangan kecil Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) di kawasan Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Bukit Saban di Penom dan Nanga Gayau di sini, hari ini.
Beliau mengulas kempen calon Bebas itu yang mendakwa sebagai pilihan terbaik untuk menjadi wakil rakyat Parlimen Betong memandangkan pengalamannya berkhidmat di peringkat persekutuan sebelum ini.
Hasbie Satar adalah bekas Setiausaha Politik kepada Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop dan meletakkan jawatan pada 14 Februari 2010. Beliau mula dilantik pada April 2008, sebagai Setiausaha Politik kepada Nor Mohamed yang sebelum itu Menteri Kewangan II.
Uggah berkata sebagai wakil GPS, Dr Richard mempunyai kedudukan terbaik kerana semua akan mendapat manfaat dari segi pembangunan jika dia dipilih sebagai Ahli Parlimen nanti.
Katanya, undi untuk Dr Richard adalah undi untuk GPS dan untuk melindungi keistimewaan dan hak Sarawak di Dewan Rakyat.
“Tetapi calon Bebas dan PKR di sini mahu menafikan kami mempunyai kuasa sedemikian. Mereka tidak serius dan hanya mahu mengambil alih Betong untuk kepentingan mereka sendiri,” katanya.
Sementara itu, Uggah mencadangkan agar pasukan cawangan kecil masing-masing memulakan kempen pusingan ketiga dan terakhir sehingga sebelum tengah malam Jumaat untuk mendapat sokongan daripada rakyat.
Pada pertemuan itu, Uggah diberitahu berita gembira apabila beberapa anggota parti pembangkang tempatan di kawasan Rimbas kini memutuskan untuk menyokong GPS.
