KUCHING: A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision involving a motorcycle and a car at KM 8 of Jalan Kota Samarahan–Asajaya on Saturday night at 11.08pm.
Samarahan police chief, Supt Damaterius Lautin, said the motorcyclist, identified as Mohammad Yusri Jumadi, was rushed to the Kota Samarahan Heart Centre but was pronounced dead at 12.25am on April 7.
“Initial investigations revealed that the victim, who was riding a Yamaha Legend motorcycle, was heading from Asajaya towards Kampung Baru, Kota Samarahan. Upon reaching KM 8, the rider is believed to have lost control of the motorcycle, skidded and fell into the opposite lane, where he was struck by an oncoming Toyota Vios,” he said.

The car driver, a 20-year-old man from Kampung Sebandi Ulu, escaped the crash without injuries.
Damaterius said at the time of the accident, the road was wet due to heavy rain.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving,” Damaterius added.
Both vehicles involved sustained damages, the motorcycle with scratches and the car with damage to its front bumper and car body.
The victim’s body was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital’s Forensic Unit for a post-mortem.
Police are also working to locate any independent witnesses to assist in the investigation.
