KUCHING: A man believed to be involved in drug activities was arrested during a raid conducted by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division of Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD Bau) at a house in Kampung Serikin this morning.
According to Bau district police chief, DSP Dr Daram Ruer, the operation, codenamed Op Tapis, was carried out at around 9.45am.
“During the raid, our team detained a 31-year-old male suspect who was found in an upstairs bedroom. Initial checks led to the discovery of a transparent plastic packet containing white crystalline substances, suspected to be dangerous drugs, kept inside a zippered bag on the floor of the room,” he said in a statement.

Further inspection outside the bedroom uncovered a cigarette box placed on a window ledge. Inside it were another packet of crystalline substances and 14 Erimin 5 pills, also suspected to be illegal drugs.
“A preliminary urine screening of the suspect returned positive for drug use,” Dr Daram added.
The total weight of the seized drugs was 12.24 grams, estimated to be worth RM890.
He said the police would apply for a remand order to facilitate further investigation.
“The Narcotics Crime Investigation Division will continue to carry out operations in areas suspected of drug activity,” Dr Daram assured.
