KUCHING: Sri Aman police chief, Superintendent Dennis Bunyam, confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old Indonesian man, Bakri Saene, in connection with the murder at Golden Fame Plantation in Pantu on April 16.

He said the suspect was apprehended around noon on April 17 in an open area near the farm workers’ quarters during a joint special operation involving personnel from IPD Sri Aman and the D9 JSJ team from IPK Sarawak.

“The arrest was made possible thanks to swift action by the investigation team and valuable information from the public,” he said.

According to Dennis, the suspect is being held under Sections 302 and 435 of the Penal Code to assist with further investigations.

He also expressed gratitude to members of the public for their cooperation and urged against making any speculation that might disrupt the ongoing investigation.

On Wednesday afternoon, Bakri was alleged to fight with a fellow countryman who died after being slashed at 4.30 pm at the plantation.
