KUCHING: Kuching Police Chief, ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah confirmed that they have arrested a suspect aged 44 in connection with arson and property damage, today.
Farhan in a statement stated that acting on intelligence, a police team from the Gita Police Station arrested the male suspect at a house on Jalan Cenderawash.
He said the suspect is linked to a property damage and arson case that occurred this morning at 2.00 am in Taman Sepawie residential area.
Initial investigations revealed the suspect used flower pots and stones to destroy the vehicle’s mirror and windscreen.
Farhan added that the suspect is tested positive for amphetamine/methamphetamine.
He said he is under remand until this Saturday for the offence under Section 427 of the Penal Code and if convicted can be jailed up to five years, a fine, or both.
Urging the public to assist by providing information related to this case, he said they can contact the Kuching District Police Control Center at 082-24444, visit the nearest police station or investigating officer, Insp Logeswara A/L Tharumalay@Krishnan, at 018-2914239.
He also advised the public to refrain from engaging in illegal activities and to maintain vigilance within their communities.
