KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap visited Masjid As-Syuhada at Kem Semenggo to hand over the Letter of Award to the appointed contractor, Ixrie Enterprise, for the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2023 project to upgrade the mosque.
The RM100,000 project, implemented under the RTP initiative, includes the installation of new roofing, ceiling, and electrical rewiring works to improve the facilities and infrastructure of the mosque.
Yap said the upgrading works aim to provide a more comfortable and conducive environment for worshippers and the surrounding community.
He said that the RTP initiative reflects the State Government’s commitment to equitable development and continuous improvement of public facilities in both urban and rural constituencies.
“This project demonstrates the Sarawak Government’s dedication under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to uplift community facilities and promote inclusivity in development,” he said.
Yap said he will continue to monitor the implementation to ensure the project is completed within four months according to schedule, meets quality standards, and benefits the Muslim community at Kem Semenggo.
He also commended the cooperation between officers from the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), community leaders, and the mosque committee in ensuring smooth coordination of the project, while urging the contractor to carry out the works responsibly and within the stipulated timeframe.
Yap added that the RTP 2023 allocation for Kota Sentosa covers several infrastructure and community enhancement projects aimed at improving residents’ well-being and supporting the constituency’s sustainable development.
