Wilfred Yap takes immediate action to address water issues at SK Satria Jaya

KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred responded to complaints raised by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SK Satria Jaya in BDC over water supply issues affecting the school community.

Yap said he has arranged for officers from the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak to carry out a detailed inspection at the school following reports of low water pressure and suspected leaking pipes.

He also visited the school and discussed with the school headmaster and PTA representatives to assess the impact on students and staff. JKR’s preliminary findings pointed to a faulty water pump as the main cause of the supply disruption.

Instructing JKR to prepare a full technical report and cost breakdown to address the issue, Yap said once the report is submitted, he plans to apply for funding under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) to carry out the necessary repairs without delay.

During the visit, Yap inspected three water coolers and 300 chairs recently purchased by the PTA using RM10,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds he had allocated last month.

JKR is expected to propose both short-term and long-term measures to ensure the school has a reliable water supply. Yap has pledged to continue monitoring the situation and work closely with the relevant authorities until the problem is fully resolved.
