KUCHING: Special Assistant to Stampin, Michael Kong highlighted a persistent water pipe leakage issue at the 3 Mile Market area, which had been troubling the public for over a month.
“About two weeks ago, I visited the shops near 3 Mile Market to personally inspect the matter after receiving numerous complaints from the public,” Kong said. “To my dismay, I was informed that despite multiple reports lodged with the nearby ADUN’s service centre, no action had been taken.”

He pointed out that an entire month had passed without any effort to address the problem. In response, his team immediately reported the issue to the Kuching Water Board (KWB).
“To their credit, KWB acted swiftly. Within two days, repair works were carried out and the leaking pipe was replaced,” Kong stated, praising KWB’s professionalism. “This quick response not only reflects KWB’s efficiency when matters are properly escalated, but also reaffirms our commitment to being the voice of the people and an agent of real change,” he added.
However, Kong noted that the portion of the road that had been dug up for the repair had yet to be resurfaced.
“We will now bring this matter to the attention of MPP and urge them to take the necessary steps to restore the road for the safety and convenience of all road users,” he said.
He hoped that relevant YB in the area who is the part of the government should get basic infrastructure issues like this fixed, especially when they have direct access to agencies and public funds.
