KUCHING: A decorative kangaroo statue in front of the Roxy Hotel, which was damaged after a young woman crashed her car into it on Sunday night, has garnered more sympathy online than the driver.
Netizens flooded social media with humorous messages and condolences for the “fallen kangaroo.”
The hotel manager, Elizabeth Maling, when contacted, said the kangaroo statue is currently “sick” and undergoing treatment at the “hospital” (workshop).
It suffered a “broken” leg and several holes on its body.
According to Elizabeth, the contractor has assured them that the statue will be repaired as soon as possible, especially since the incident has brought unexpected “fame” to the broken kangaroo.
She also expressed relief that the driver was unharmed, adding that it was fortunate the car hit the kangaroo instead of pedestrians.
