Poor infrastructure in Klinik Kesihatan Kota Sentosa

BLUE chairs for Klinik Kesihatan Kota Sentosa

KUCHING: Michael Kong who is Special assistant to MP Stampin, Chong Chieng Jen expressed disappointment over the poor condition of waiting chairs at Klinik Kesihatan Kota Sentosa and the dismissive response from Kota Sentosa State assemblyman Wilfred Yap.

Kong said the issue was first raised by an MPP councillor who highlighted the dilapidated state of the waiting chairs and urged Pending State Assemblywoman, Violet Yong to bring it to the attention of the relevant authorities for immediate action.

Yong later raised the matter to ensure patients and members of the public could wait for their turn in dignity and comfort.

“As a member of the panel of advisors for Klinik Kesihatan Kota Sentosa, it is deeply disappointing that the clinic’s facilities have been allowed to deteriorate to this extent under Yap’s watch,” Kong said.

THE broken chairs outside the clinic

He added that images circulating online clearly showed the broken and unsafe chairs were not a recent issue but the result of prolonged neglect, reflecting poorly on Wilfred Yap’s sense of responsibility and commitment to ensuring proper upkeep of the clinic.

“What is even more regrettable is that Yap chose to dismiss the matter raised by the councillor and Yong as ‘unnecessary noise’ and ‘social media drama’. Such a condescending and dismissive attitude towards legitimate public feedback is wholly unacceptable,” he said

Michael stressed that constructive criticism and public concern are essential elements of good governance.

MICHAEL Kong calls for better infrastructure for clinics

“Public service requires humility, accountability, and a willingness to listen. When issues are raised, whether privately, through the media, or on social media, leaders should respond with gratitude and action and not belittlement or attacks,” he added.

Meanwhile, when contacted by Utusan Sarawak, Yap said there are proper chairs inside the clinic. The old ones they left it outside.

“Anyway, I am getting some new chairs for the outerior also. And I am not going to be drawn in petty arguments,” he added.
