KUCHING: Bawang Assan state Assemblyman, Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh said Malaysia’s true hope for justice and progress lies in Sarawak and Sabah, stressing that both states must hold two-thirds of the seats in Parliament based on equal partnership and equal representation.
“Only when Sarawak and Sabah hold two-thirds of the seats in Parliament can Malaysia truly move toward a progressive and enlightened future,” he said.
Wong described Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing’s recent compromise as a forced act of political conciliation and an unfair treatment against Malaysia’s multicultural society.
He warned that repeated compromises would continue to weaken the foundation of Malaysia Madani, adding that extremism is spreading while many leaders have forgotten the nation’s open and progressive values.
“If the voices of Sarawak and Sabah cannot become a decisive force in Parliament, the same injustice will happen again and again,” he said.
Wong said Sarawak has always been an example of harmony, where Muslims and non-Muslims live peacefully together, but stressed that real strength is needed to defend this way of life.
“That is why Sarawak and Sabah must, based on equal partnership and equal representation, hold two-thirds of Parliament’s seats. It is the only way to safeguard Malaysia’s diversity and ensure a progressive future,” he added.
“With this mission, PDP is ready to stand up and fight for justice, dignity, and the true spirit of Malaysia,” he concluded.
