
KUCHING: Bau Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division arrested a man at noon today suspected of peddling and taking drugs.
Bau District Police Chief, Supt Mohd Haide A Rahaman said police conducted a search operation along the side of Jalan Ledan Gumbang leading to the arrest of a local man in his 20s.
He said during the inspection, officers found a steel straw tube with yellow-striped lighting containing a crystalline substance believed to be a type of syabu, which the suspect had reportedly intended to distribute.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession.
An initial urine screening test also returned positive for drug use, and the suspect is further being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
In another case, Haide confirmed that a break-in occurred at the changing room of the football field in Kampung Bogag.
He said the victim, 7-year-old victim discovered the incident on September 26 at around 5:30 pm while visiting the field’s pavilion. He found the grill door to the changing room had been forced open and the lock cut.
Upon entering, he noticed that all electrical wiring for four power sockets and three fluorescent lamps had been cut and stolen. The total estimated loss is around RM1,500.
Haide added that no lights were on in the football field or the changing room at the time, and the area is not covered by CCTV. The case is currently under investigation.
