KUCHING: Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata confirmed that police have received a report regarding a security threat targeting liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities in Bintulu.
He said the threat was made through WhatsApp using a phone number registered in Indonesia, but the motive behind it has yet to be determined as investigations are still ongoing.
“The police take this matter seriously as LNG Bintulu is a high-priority national asset. We are working to identify the individual behind the threat while ensuring that security measures at the LNG facilities remain at the highest level,” Mancha said.
He added that the situation is calm and under control, and urged the public not to engage in speculation that could disrupt public order.
For further information or enquiries, the public may contact the Bintulu District Police Operations Room at 086-318304.
