KUCHING: The inaugural Bau Edu Fun Run 2025 drew overwhelming support, with 1,082 participants and a crowd of about 1,500 gathering for the community event.

Organised by the Bau District Education Office Staff Welfare Club, in collaboration with the Bau District Parents, Community and School Association (PIBKS), the Bau Education Service Officers’ Sports and Cultural Association (PSKPP), and SMK Singai, the fun run received strong backing from sponsors and the local community.

The event was joined by Mas Gading MP YB Mordi Bimol and his wife, who took part in the 18-and-above category. The run was flagged off by Press Metal Bintulu’s Head of Communications and Public Relations, Nina Meling, alongside Bau District PIBKS focal person Nathan Achuk and deputy directors of the Bau District Education Office.

In conjunction with the event, Press Metal Bintulu also presented Smart TVs to schools in the district as part of its commitment to educational development.

A total of 42 sponsors contributed to the programme, with Press Metal Bintulu as the main sponsor and Runati Athletix Sdn Bhd as the strategic partner for official apparel. Among other contributors were Nirvana Memorial Park Kuching, SCR Corporation Sdn Bhd, KFC Corporation, Yakult Malaysia, Ming Ming Supermarket Sdn Bhd, and Nam Kuang Sdn Bhd.

Visitors also enjoyed Rahmah MADANI sales organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDNKK) Kuching, a variety of food and beverage stalls, and several competitions to create a festive atmosphere.

The running route, which covered areas around the Bau District Education Office and Singai, was aimed at raising funds to support educational activities while strengthening ties between the local community and the education sector.

The Bau District Education Office expressed appreciation to all sponsors, participants, and the community for their support, saying the event not only marked a successful start to more high-impact programmes in the future, but also reinforced collaboration between schools, parents, the community, and strategic partners in advancing education in Bau.
