KUCHING: Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed that a man died in a fatal road accident at around 3.20am along Jalan Pelabuhan today.
Alexson said a Perodua Myvi driver lost control and crashed.
A male front passenger, believed to be a local in his 20s, sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant from Sarawak General Hospital at 4.21am.
The driver, a local woman in her 30s, along with two other male passengers, also suffered injuries and were taken to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.
Alexson said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death. If convicted, the offence carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine of up to RM50,000.

Alexson also reminded the public to always drive cautiously and obey traffic rules to avoid accidents and unforeseen circumstances.
