THREE arrested over rioting incident at grocery store in Batu Kawah.
KUCHING: Swift action from Padawan Police arrested three individuals aged between 24 and 33 in connection with a rioting incident at a grocery store in Batu Kawah, which was caught on CCTV and widely circulated on social media.
Padawan District Police Chief, Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi, confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons.
“The incident occurred at around 9.30 pm on June 29 at 29 Mart, located at The Glen in Batu Kawah.
A group of individuals was seen smashing and damaging items inside the store in the viral footage,” he said when contacted by Utusan Sarawak.
Irwan added that no injuries were reported in the incident and investigations are ongoing.
He urged members of the public with relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation. The motive of the riot is still being investigated.
