KUCHING: One of the five victims killed in a road accident early this year was 16-year-old Japin Kemin, a student from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) DPHA Gapor who lived at the Stampin Resettlement Scheme. His demise has caused devastating effect on the family members, said Special Assistant to MP Stampin, Michael Kong.
Kong shared that upon learning of the incident, he immediately reached out to the family through mutual friends.
“There are no words that can truly comfort a grieving family,” he said, “but I wanted them to know that they are not alone and that we would do what we could to support them.”
He explained that with time having passed since the tragedy, DAP Stampin had arranged a financial contribution to assist the family during this difficult period.
“This small gesture cannot erase their grief, but we hope it serves as a reminder that their community stands with them,” he added.
Kong also shared that during a visit to the family, he learned about their eldest son, currently pursuing his studies at UiTM. Recognising the added emotional and financial strain, he facilitated further support through the DAP Tertiary Education Assistance Fund.
“It is already hard enough losing a sibling,” he said. “We hope this assistance can ease his burden and allow him to focus on his education.”
Kong reaffirmed DAP Stampin’s commitment to standing by the family.
“They have lost so much, but they should not lose hope. We will continue to support them in whatever ways we can,” he said.
