
KUCHING: Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu disclosed that Commercial crime cases in Kuching District have surged significantly in the first four months of 2025, recording a 55 per cent increase or 134 more cases than the same period last year, with financial losses exceeding RM3 million.
Speaking at the monthly parade today at the IPD headquarters, Alexson said the police received a total of 1,027 reports related to commercial crimes between January 1 and April 30 this year.
So far, he added that 242 investigation papers were opened and estimated losses came to RM3,011,435, a 27 per cent rise from the previous year.
On property crime cases, Alexson expressed galdness that it has dropped by 192, representing a 44.04 per cent decline, while violent crimes saw a marginal reduction of two cases or 5.26 per cent.
He disclosed that 784 investigation papers were initiated in the first four months of the year, leading to the arrest of 842 individuals for various narcotics offences.
As for Kuching, they will put in more effort to fight drugs and step up public awareness campaigns especially those targeting scams and cybercrime,” he said.
Calling for public cooperation, Alexson said by doing so, crime activities can be reduced.
He urged his men to stay steadfast in keeping law and order as public’s expectation is more especially in this social media era which has placed the force under pressure due to allegations of misconduct and corruption.
