KUCHING: A 53-year-old man was charge in the Magistrate’s Court today in Serian for possession of obscene photos and videos on his mobile phone.
The charges were read before the Class 1 Magistrate, District Officer Tuan Enting @ Inting Nyami, and no confession was recorded.
The accused was then offered bail of RM2,000 with a local surety.
He was charged under section 292 of the Penal Code which provides a prison sentence of up to 10 years, or with a fine, or with whipping or any of the punishments, if convicted.
The suspect was arrested last week as a result of an operation carried out by the CID in an unnumbered house in Jalan Batu 11 Balai Ringin, Serian.
As a result of the inspection of the suspect’s mobile phone, it was found that there were pornographic photos and videos stored in the mobile phone.
After the suspect was arrested, his mobile phone was also confiscated and handed over to the Investigating Officer for further action.
The case is set for further proceedings on 6 November 2025 at the Serian Magistrate’s Court.
