KUCHING: A total of 17 summonses were issued during a motorcycle operation conducted by the Bau District Police on Saturday night to Sunday morning.

Bau District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Haide A Rahman, said the operation, which ran from 9.00 pm to 1.30 am, involved eight personnel from the Bau Police Station Patrol Team (BSPT).

Two motorcyclists checked on the validity of their documents.

“The operation covered several areas including Bau town, Jalan Singai, Jalan Batu Kawa, Jalan Serasot, Jalan Stass, and Siniawan town,” he said.

According to Haide, a total of 25 motorcycles and 30 individuals were inspected, comprising 25 men and five women.

“Seventeen summonses were issued for various traffic offences such as not having side mirrors (4), modified exhausts (3), not wearing helmets (2), expired road tax (4), and driving without a valid licence (4),” he added.

Another motorcyclist checked.

He added that police also checked on drug abuses and drunk driving during the operation.

Haide said such operations will continue from time to time to ensure road users comply with traffic regulations and to reduce accidents involving motorcyclists.
