PUBLIC can contact these numbers to verify account numbers.

KUCHING: The Bau police are reminding the public to remain vigilant against online scams and fraudulent activities, following the release of an information pamphlet by the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID).

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahaman said the pamphlet highlights key services provided by the department, including the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC), which can be reached via the 997 hotline, and the ‘Semak Mule’ online platform that allows users to check bank accounts or phone numbers suspected of being linked to scams.

He added that the pamphlet also features a ‘Scan Me’ QR code, which provides access to the latest updates and trends related to commercial crimes nationwide.

“Public awareness and cooperation are vital in combating scams. The police and the community are inseparable, and this close relationship is important to ensure our collective safety and well-being,” Supt Mohd Haide said.

He urged the public to remain cautious and to verify information before making any financial transactions.
