Milton Foo condemns vandalism at Mr Tan’s residence, urges police investigation

KUCHING: Over the past week, a semi-naked man reportedly vandalised the home of Mr Tan, breaking windows and spray-painting the gate with the Mandarin words for ‘owe debt.’

At a press conference today, SUPP Public complaint bureau chief, Milton Foo urged the suspect to come forward and resolve any issues openly instead of causing damage.

“Do not threaten Mr Tan by throwing bricks or stones into his house or spray-painting his gate,” he said.

Foo also urged the authorities to investigate the matter promptly, noting that Mr Tan and his wife are living alone and have been traumatised by the repeated incidents.

Mr Tan clarified that his children are not residing with him as his son works outstation and his daughter is married.

He confirmed that neither he nor his family owe any debts. CCTV footage has reportedly captured the suspect, which Mr Tan has submitted to the police for investigation.

“The actions of the suspect are wrong. Even if collecting debts, he should never be collected through criminal means,” Milton added.

Mr Tan who was at the Press conference said he was puzzled by yje action of the suspect.

He said he does not know the suspect or has offended anyone. 

Tan said there are cases where parcels not belonging to him were sent to his house. He wondered if there is any mistaken identify involved.
