KUCHING: Kota Sentosa State assemblyman Wilfred Yap has called for remedial works to be carried out at the upgrading project of Taman Rekreasi Jalan Semaba, Lorong 2 (Phase 2), after expressing dissatisfaction with the quality of workmanship during a site inspection.

The RM50,000 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project is being implemented by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) with the appointed contractor, aimed at upgrading and improving recreational facilities for the community.

“I am not satisfied with the quality of the work. I have instructed the contractor to carry out remedial works to rectify the shortcomings,” Yap said during the visit.

He also directed MPP officers to closely supervise the process. “MPP officers must monitor the remedial works and conduct a final inspection before releasing the contract sum. We must make sure that public funds are used responsibly and that projects delivered meet the required standards,” he stressed.

Yap thanked MPP for their cooperation and oversight, noting that collaboration is essential in ensuring people-centric projects are completed properly. “I appreciate MPP as the implementing agency for their commitment. I will continue to pursue projects that benefit the people, improve our living environment and promote community well-being,” he said.

He added that recreational spaces play a vital role in strengthening social bonds. “Proper recreational facilities are important to promote healthy lifestyles, foster community bonding and enhance the overall well-being of residents,” he said.

The upgrading of Taman Rekreasi Jalan Semaba is part of Yap’s ongoing effort to ensure community spaces in Kota Sentosa are well-maintained, safe and conducive for families and residents.
