Man charged with stealing temple donation money

THE suspect brought to court today. 

KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 49 year old man was charged in the Kota Samarahan Magistrate’s Court today with stealing money from a temple donation fund in Kampung Jutukan Ulu Sadong Jaya last week.

He pleased not guilty to the charge. 

According to the charge, the man, together with an accomplice still at large, allegedly stole RM300 from a donation box at the temple. 

The offence falls under Section 380 of the Penal Code read with Section 34, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a possible fine upon conviction.

Police arrested the suspect within 24 hours of the incident, acting on public tip-offs. 

A black Proton Saga and a white plastic roll with double-sided tape believed to have been used during the theft were also seized.

The case was heard before Magistrate Shafiza Binti Datu Abdul Razak Tready. The court denied bail and ordered him to be remanded in prison pending mention on September 24, 2025.
