KUCHING: A suspect was ordered to be remanded for 7 days after he shot dead a 52-year-old woman yesterday morning.

Serian District Police Chief DSP Freddy Bian said the incident happened at a farm in Kampung Engkeroh Mawang, Tebekang, around 9.00 am.

He believed the woman was mistakenly identified as an animal by an 87-year-old local man while he was hunting on his farmland.

Freddy said the victim was struck by shotgun pellets on the right side of her face and right shoulder.

He confirmed that the suspect used his own shotgun during the incident.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, pending further updates.
