SCAM….Sarawak CP Dato Mancha advises public not to fall for easy money.

SIBU: Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata confirmed that another senior citizen has fallen prey to investment scam lossing nearly RM800,000.

He said the victim, a man in his 70s and a former self-employed businessman, reportedly came across an advertisement on Facebook in mid-June promoting a supposed investment platform called “GVD Coins”.

While browsing Facebook at home, Mancha added that the victim was drawn to the investment scheme and requested his family members to help gather funds so he could invest in it.

Despite being advised by his family not to trust such online offers, the victim ignored their warnings and proceeded to make several transactions in stages to a bank account provided by the suspect, amounting to around RM800,000.

He said the victim eventually lodged a police report after realising he had not received any promised returns.

“We are continuing investigations into this case. I strongly urge the public to be cautious and not be easily swayed by investment offers seen online,” he added.

He also reminded the public, especially the elderly, to always consult financial advisors or verify the legitimacy of online investment schemes before parting with their money.
