KUCHING: The Old Josephians’ Association (OJA) Kuching will be organising its 8th edition of Ora Et Labora Run themed ‘Back to School!’ on Saturday, 4 October 2025.
As before, the Run will start at the premises of SMK St. Joseph, Kuching, at 6.00am.
The Ora Et Labora Run aims to provide an opportune time for a reunion for ex-students to gather, share and serve their alma mater.
According to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian, who is also the OJA President, the Ora Et Labora Run is not just bringing the past students and their families together but also the current students of the St. Joseph’s Family of Schools, which includes SMK St. Joseph, St. Joseph’s Private School, and St. Joseph’s International School together.
Many have supported the run event in past editions, and it has been very successful.
“The Ora Et Labora Run 2024 drew more than 1,400 runners and this year, we hope to attract more than 1,500 runners to join us.
“This is to provide an opportunity to raise funds for school extra-curricular activities and for the students to engage in simple business trials.
“With all three schools involved as a team, it is hoped that a solid network and a closer bond can be forged”, he said.
Dr. Sim also informed that the school is seeking to raise RM2,000,000 for Phase 1 of the SMK St Joseph’s Masterplan.
This phase focuses on providing more facilities to encourage effective learning and collaboration among the Josephians.
He urged all Josephians, alumni, and corporate bodies to generously join forces in raising the amount needed for this crucial upgrading project.
The Run is divided into the 1.4km Walk for families and children, 5km Fun Run and 10km Race.
All participants who finish the run will receive finisher medals and for the 10km Race, the top 10 finishers will receive additional cash prizes.
The registration fees per person are RM55 for the 1.4km Walk and 5km Fun Run, and RM65 for the 10km Race.
Each registered runner is entitled a running T-shirt and a running bib.
