KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has kicked off two new Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects aimed at improving daily life for residents in his constituency.
During a recent site visit with officers from the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), Yap inspected locations for both approved projects and initiated the groundwork to finalise the scope of work and bill of quantities ahead of construction.
“These two projects reflect our commitment to solving real, day-to-day problems faced by the community. Infrastructure upgrades, no matter the scale, make a difference in people’s lives,” Yap said during the visit.
The first project, worth RM200,000, involves upgrading the drainage system along Jalan Semaba near Kuil Chin Kiun Thai Ti and Thai Pak Kung. Concrete drains will be installed to address long-standing drainage and flood issues that have affected both residents and temple visitors.
The second project, Yap stated it was with a budget of RM39,000, will see the installation of bullet stops along two pedestrian walkways in Batu 7 to prevent illegal parking by heavy and commercial vehicles. Yap said the move is necessary to protect covered drains used as pedestrian walkways and to ensure safer paths for schoolchildren, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
“I want to ensure that every sen of public funds is channelled towards practical improvements that benefit the rakyat,” he said, adding that the projects will be closely monitored to ensure cost-efficiency, proper implementation, and timely delivery.
Yap also encouraged residents to continue sharing feedback, saying community input is vital to shaping development priorities.
