KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap urged Sarawakians to reject divisive claims surrounding the state’s oil and gas policy, saying recent allegations of a ‘hidden Fuzhou hand’ were false and irresponsible.
He stressed that Sarawak’s policies are decided through the State Legislative Assembly, guided by MA63 and the Federal Constitution, not by racial groups or personal agendas.
“The claim that Petros will cripple Petronas is fearmongering. Both entities complement each other to ensure Sarawak gains fair value for its resources while Malaysia’s global energy commitments are safeguarded,” he said.
Yap dismissed attempts to portray political rivalry among state leaders or to cast doubt on officials’ integrity, calling such narratives a deliberate attempt to divide Sarawakians.
“Our gas policy is about fairness, constitutional rights and building a stronger future under PCDS 2030. Sarawakians must stay united and reject misleading rhetoric,” he added.
