KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap siclosed that a project, funded under the 2023 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) with an allocation of RM1 million, is aimed at enhancing the identity and economic vitality of the Kota Sentosa Commercial area.
Yap recently held a discussion with officers from the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) to refine the proposed design for the Grand Arch which he said can transforms perceptions, creates a sense of arrival, and reflects our cultural heritage and progress.
He said the arch is envisioned as an iconic gateway that will welcome residents and visitors, while serving as a symbolic landmark for the local community. Strategically located at the main access point to the commercial hub, the project is expected to draw in more tourists and boost business activity in the area.
The project would prioritise safety, aesthetic appeal and sustainability to ensure the structure remains relevant for future generations.
He also expressed confidence that once completed, the Grand Arch will become a lasting symbol of unity and development in Kota Sentosa.
