KUCHING: In the spirit of community solidarity, Sentosa State Assemblyman Wilfred Yap, accompanied by Penghulu Jakup Buan, Tuai Rumah Christopher Chaong and Tuai Rumah Michael Mada, recently visited several underprivileged families to distribute Gawai food baskets in preparation for the upcoming festive season.
Yap said the initiative was part of his ongoing efforts to ease the financial burden of needy households and ensure they are not left out of the Gawai celebrations.
He said this was one way to show care and ensure no one feels forgotten during this important time.
The food baskets included essential festive items to help recipients celebrate Gawai with joy.
During the visit, Yap personally engaged with each family, listened to their concerns, and offered words of encouragement.
His presence and interaction reflected a hands-on approach that goes beyond his duties as an elected representative.
As Gawai approaches, Yap said it is important to continue strengthening the spirit of inclusiveness, compassion, and unity, which form the foundation of Sarawakâs diverse society.
