KUCHING: Kota Sentosa State Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap, recently handed over a Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant of RM10,000 to the Sarawak Deaf Community Service Association (SDCSA) during a brief ceremony held at his service centre.
The grant is intended to support the Association’s ongoing community initiatives, particularly in the teaching and promotion of sign language, which plays a vital role in empowering the deaf and hard-of-hearing community in Sarawak.
Yap commended the efforts of SDCSA, saying, “I am encouraged by the meaningful work undertaken to bridge communication gaps in our society. I hope this grant will help ease some financial burden and enable the Association to reach more individuals in need.”
He also encouraged the association to utilise the funds prudently and reiterated his commitment to supporting inclusive and people-focused initiatives.
“This reflects my continuous effort to ensure that no community is left behind in our development journey,” he added.
SDCSA Chairman, Albert Wong expressed appreciation for Yap’s continued support and pledged to fully utilise the grant to enhance their programmes and services.
