KUCHING: State Assemblyman for Kota Sentosa, Wilfred Yap visited Sekolah Kebangsaan Satria Jaya today to present two MRP cheques totaling RM45,000 in response to a request by the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) to support essential facilities repair and the upgrading of the school’s surau.
Of the total amount, he said, RM30,000 will be allocated for urgent repair works on damaged and ageing school facilities, including unsatisfactory toilets, faulty windows and worn-out classroom doors, leaking ceilings and damaged flooring in several classrooms.
The remaining RM15,000 will be used to upgrade Surau An-Nur, the school’s prayer facility, which serves as an important space for spiritual and religious activities for students and staff.
“As the elected representative, I take the needs of schools in my constituency very seriously. SK Satria Jaya is not just a place for academic learning, but also a nurturing ground for discipline and character development. I am committed to supporting schools in creating a safe, comfortable and conducive learning environment for our children,” said Yap.
He reaffirmed that he remains accessible and responsive to any school, PIBG, or local community group seeking assistance with basic infrastructure needs or student welfare and the funding was secured through a special allocation applied for based on on-the-ground needs, and is part of his ongoing commitment to supporting educational development within Kota Sentosa.
Yap added that education of our children is one of the most important investments we can make and YB Wilfred Yap will continue playing an active role to ensure no school in Kota Sentosa is left behind.
