KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap reaffirmed his commitment to improving community infrastructure by inspecting a completed carpark resurfacing project and initiating plans for new street lighting in key areas.
Yap recently conducted a final inspection at the Seven Mile Community Association Hall, where the resurfacing of carparks was funded under his 2025 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation.
He said the upgraded carpark now offers safer and more convenient access for residents, particularly those attending funeral services held at the hall often used by families whose homes are unsuitable for such ceremonies.
“I want to ensure that every project funded under RTP truly serves the needs of the people,“ he said.
Another project under his 2026 RTP allocation is along Jalan Sungai Tapang and Jalan Kampung Sungai Tapang, accompanied by community leaders, SESCO officers, and local councillors where he identify strategic locations for street lighting installation.
The project, worth RM200,000, aims to enhance safety and security, especially for pedestrians, schoolchildren, and motorcyclists in dimly lit areas.
“All proposals must be grounded in real community needs and supported by technical assessments,” Yap added.
“By working closely with agencies like SESCO and the local council, we can implement practical solutions that improve the quality of life for everyone in Kota Sentosa.”
