KUCHING: Kota Sentosa State assemblyman Wilfred Yap visited BDC Lorong B1 to inspect the completed Rural Transformation Project (RTP) involving the rehabilitation of drainage and the pedestrian walkway beside SK Satria Jaya, Taman Satria Jaya BDC.

The RM250,000 project, implemented by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and carried out by Syarikat Mercu Bina, began on February 17, 2025. The works included upgrading the drainage system and improving the backlane walkway to enhance safety, accessibility, and cleanliness.

Yap expressed relief and satisfaction that the project had been completed despite earlier delays, thanking MBKS for their close monitoring and supervision to ensure quality completion within the revised timeframe.

“I am relieved that this long-awaited project is now completed. I would like to thank MBKS for their dedication and close supervision which ensured the project’s success. The improved drainage and walkway will provide greater convenience and safety for residents, especially school children and pedestrians in the area,” he said.

Yap added that the project reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment under the RTP initiative to uplift community infrastructure and improve living standards. He also assured that he would continue to work closely with MBKS and relevant agencies to identify and implement more community improvement projects in Kota Sentosa under future RTP funding cycles.
