KUCHING: State Assemblyman Wilfred Yap has expressed satisfaction over the completion of a key Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project at Sentosa Hospital, describing it as timely and impactful for both patients and staff.

Speaking at an appreciation ceremony held to mark the project’s official completion, Yap said the RM400,000 initiative had addressed two major concerns, a long-standing parking shortage and the urgent need for improved rehabilitation facilities.

“The construction of 40 new car park lots, complete with proper drainage, surfacing and markings, has solved a persistent problem faced by hospital staff and visitors,” he said.

He also highlighted the comprehensive upgrading of the Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation Hall, which included full electrical rewiring, new lighting and air conditioners, window replacements, a renovated stage and counselling room, and a complete repainting.

“With the increasing demand for mental health services and rehabilitative care, these upgrades could not have come at a better moment,” he added.

Yap thanked the Padawan Municipal Council for its role as the implementing agency, praising its commitment to completing the works on time and to a satisfactory standard.

He also announced a further RM200,000 allocation under his RTP 2026 to support more upgrading works at the hospital.
