KUCHING: Police have arrested two men in connection with a shooting incident at the Majau-Kanowit-Song junction, said Kanowit District Police Chief DSP Junical Ujal.
He said the incident occurred around 8.30 pm last night when a man was fired upon by an assailant who then fled in a vehicle.
Junical said fortunately, no injuries were reported.
“Following swift action, police discovered the burnt remains of a vehicle along Jalan Penyulau, believed to have been used by the suspect in the shooting,” Junical stated.
He added that investigations led to the arrest of two men, including the registered owner of the vehicle, at different locations.
“Both suspects are now in police custody to assist in the investigation. This arrest is a significant step forward in solving the case,” he stressed, assuring that the police are taking the matter seriously.
He also advised the public not to engage in speculation while investigations continue.
