Three sudden death cases reported in Kuching

THREE remains found in various area in Kuching yesterday.

KUCHING: Kuching police confirmed three sudden death cases reported on September 10.

Kuching police chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said in the first case, it was reported at about 1.34 pm when police received a call about a man who had collapsed in front of BS Supermarket, Jalan Depo, opposite SMK Semerah Padi. 

A 46-year-old local man was found unconscious and later confirmed dead by medical personnel. His body was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Forensic Department for post-mortem.

Alexson said at around 8.15 pm, police were alerted to an unconscious man at a workers’ quarters in Lorong Datuk Abang Abdul Rahim. A team from Padungan station arrived at the scene and found the victim, an Indonesian man in his 30s, already dead. His remains were also sent to SGH for further examination.

Later that night, at about 11.24 pm, he said police received a report of a foul smell coming from a rented room at Metrocity. A team from Gita station discovered the decomposed body of a local man in his 70s. The body was taken to SGH for post-mortem.

Alexson said initial investigations at all three locations found no criminal elements, and the cases are being classified as sudden death.

“We advise the public not to speculate on these incidents out of respect for the families involved. Anyone with information is urged to contact Padungan Police Station Chief Insp Goh Chen Hong at 014-9007007, Gita Police Station Chief ASP Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Ali at 019-5131156, or report to the nearest police station,” he said.
