KUCHING: The Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) Brigade has recorded 15 successful operations between 17 and 28 September under Op Taring Alpha, Op Taring Bravo, and Op Taring Awas/Batas, with seizures worth RM8.13 million.
Brigade Commander SAC Lim Bak Phai said the cases involved frozen meat, subsidised goods, smuggled liquor, untaxed cigarettes, and fireworks. Multiple raids across Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu, Miri, Limbang, Serian, Lundu, Bau, Lubok Antu, Simunjan, Julau, and Kota Samarahan led to the arrest of both local and foreign suspects.

“Among the major seizures were over 10,000 cartons of cigarettes, more than 17,000 litres of liquor, nearly 16,000 kilograms of frozen meat, 13,000 litres of subsidised diesel, and fireworks, alongside the confiscation of various vehicles,” Lim said.
He added that all arrests and confiscated goods have been handed over to the relevant authorities, including the Customs Department, Veterinary Department, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, and district police headquarters, for further investigation under the respective laws.

Lim noted that since the launch of Op Taring in January this year, the Sarawak GOF Brigade has achieved total seizures worth RM362 million, involving 444 cases. “In these cases, 540 individuals comprising 421 locals and 119 foreigners were detained, while 272 vehicles of various types were seized,” he said.
