KUCHING: The new Tabuan Jaya Health Clinic, currently under construction at Jalan Setia Raja, is expected to be completed by September 16 and begin operations shortly thereafter, according to Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii.
He said the timeline was confirmed in a parliamentary reply from the Health Minister and expressed satisfaction that the long-awaited project is finally nearing completion.
“This is a project that I have consistently pushed for since I was elected on behalf of the people in Kuching, and I am pleased to see that it is finally taking shape after all these years,” Dr Yii said.
The clinic is expected to provide comprehensive healthcare services for residents in and around the Tabuan area. Among the services planned are outpatient and emergency treatment, pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, oral health, rehabilitation, maternal and child healthcare, pathology, and more. The facility will also include dedicated amenities for both the public and clinic staff.
Dr Yii noted that the new clinic will improve access to healthcare for the growing population in the surrounding areas and help reduce congestion at overburdened facilities like the Tanah Puteh Health Clinic and Kota Sentosa Health Clinic.
“Healthcare is a basic right, and I will continue to push for timely completion and ensure that this project benefits the people as intended,” he added.
He also stressed his commitment to closely monitor the clinic’s progress and work with the Ministry of Health to ensure it is fully equipped and adequately staffed when it begins operations.
“I remain committed to fighting for accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all residents in Bandar Kuching and beyond,” Dr Yii said.
