KUCHING: Swift action by the police led to the arrest of a suspect brandishing a fake pistol while driving along Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce this evening.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata confirmed the arrest and clarified that the weapon involved was an airsoft toy gun.
He said the case is currently under investigation.
Public panic arose when a video of the suspect brandishing the pistol went viral, prompting the police to act quickly by identifying the suspect and arresting him at his home.
